- Attic and extension wiringIf you are extending a Manston semi into the loft or out at the back, the new rooms need their own circuits, tested and certified under Part P.
- Consumer unit upgradesAn extension is a good moment to replace an old fuse board, because new circuits need both space on the board and RCD protection.
- EV charger installationWhere a Manston semi has a drive, a home charger on a dedicated circuit means overnight charging with no cable trailing across the path.
- Garden electrical socketsWeatherproof sockets and lighting for back gardens, fed from the house on a protected circuit rather than an indoor extension lead.

Electrical work in Manston
Manston is a suburb and former village four miles east of Leeds city centre, on the east side of Crossgates in LS15. It takes its name from Manston Hall and the Gascoigne family’s estate, and streets such as Manston Crescent and Manston Grove still carry it. Manston Park, opened by the council in 1925, holds a memorial to the 35 women killed in the 1916 explosion at the Barnbow munitions factory nearby, and the parish church of St James the Great gives its name to the local primary academy.
Semi-detached houses line many of Manston’s streets, and semis are the kind of home that tends to grow, with a bedroom in the loft or a kitchen extended out the back. Each new room needs its own circuits, and attic and extension wiring planned with the builder avoids chasing finished walls later. It is also the right time to look at the fuse board: new circuits need space and RCD protection, and an older board may need a consumer unit upgrade first. Outside, a semi with a drive is straightforward to fit with a home EV charger.

Questions from Manston
What people in Manston ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.
Do you cover Manston and the streets around Manston Park?
Yes. Manston, from the roads off Barwick Road down to Austhorpe Road, is within our LS15 coverage, including the streets around Manston Park and St James the Great church. Get in touch with your address and the job.
I am planning a loft conversion on my Manston semi. When should I bring in an electrician?
Early, ideally before the plans are final. Sockets, lighting, smoke alarms and extra circuits are easier to place on paper than after plastering, and we can check whether your fuse board has room for them. See our attic and extension wiring page for how it works.
