Last updated 14 October 2026. This policy explains how Martin Day Electricians Limited (“Martin Day Electricians”, “we”, “us”) handles your personal data when you contact us, request an estimate, book work or use this website.
Who we are
Martin Day Electricians Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 07048197. Our registered office is Castleton Mill, Castleton Close, Leeds LS12 2DS. You can reach us at info@martindayelectrician.co.uk or on 0113 347 3743.
What data we collect
We only collect what we need to do the work you have asked us to do, and to run our business. Depending on how you contact us this may include:
- Your name and contact details (email, phone, address).
- Details about the work you want, including answers given in our contact and booking forms.
- Records of jobs, estimates, invoices and any compliance paperwork we hold on your behalf.
- Correspondence with us by phone, email or web form.
- Limited technical data when you use this website, such as your IP address, device and browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics if you consent.
How we use your data and our lawful basis
We use your data to: respond to enquiries and provide estimates; arrange and carry out the work; issue paperwork and compliance documentation; take payment and chase outstanding invoices; meet our legal and accreditation obligations; keep service and warranty records; and improve our website and service.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are: performance of a contract (or steps to enter one); our legitimate interests in running the business safely and well; compliance with legal obligations; and consent where required, for example for non-essential cookies and any future marketing.
Sharing your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary with:
- Our employed staff.
- Our sister company (Martin Day Commercial Electricians, commercialelectricianinleeds.co.uk), where a job spans both domestic and commercial work.
- Equipment manufacturers where needed to register a product warranty.
- Our accountant and any payment provider we use, acting on our instructions.
We also use these service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Google Analytics 4 (Google). Measures how this website is used. It loads only after you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Google may process this data outside the UK, including in the United States, under its own safeguards.
- Cloudflare. Hosts this website and provides Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless measurement tool. Cloudflare processes limited technical traffic data under its privacy policy.
- Results You Can Measure (the RYCM forms service). Processes the contact and booking form submissions you send through this website and forwards them to us by email.
- Microsoft 365. Our email service, where your enquiries and our replies are received and stored.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep job, certificate and warranty records for at least the length of the relevant compliance cycle. Invoice and tax records are kept for at least 6 years to satisfy HMRC. Enquiry data that does not lead to work is kept for 12 months and then deleted or anonymised.
A copy of contact and booking form submissions is held in the RYCM forms service at forms.resultsyoucanmeasure.com and routed to our team. The same retention and access controls apply there as to the originals.
Cookies
This website uses cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function and, with your consent, Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. You can accept or refuse non-essential cookies in the cookie banner, and change your choice at any time with the “Manage cookies” link in the footer, without losing access to the site. We do not use advertising trackers. Full detail is in our cookie policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to certain processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details above and we will respond within the statutory time limit.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, though we would ask you to raise it with us first so we can put it right.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version published here, with the date shown above, is the current one. Material changes will trigger a fresh cookie banner request so you can review your choices.
