What we’re asked for most in Rothwell
The jobs that come up again and again in Rothwell, each with a written estimate before work starts.
- Full house rewiresRothwell's Edwardian villas and late-Victorian through-terraces are now over a century old. Where the wiring has only been patched over the years, a planned rewire is the lasting fix.
- EICR testingThe simplest way to find out what a century-old stone or brick house near Commercial Street really has behind its walls, before you buy or renovate.
- Consumer unit upgradesInter-war semis and the 1950s council-built homes north of the centre may still have a board without RCD protection. Replacing it is usually a one-day job.
- EV charger installationWhere a house on one of the private estates built since the 1970s has a driveway or garage, a wall-mounted home charger is a straightforward fit.

Electrical work in Rothwell
Rothwell is a town in its own right, about five miles south-east of Leeds on the A639, and it was granted market rights in the 15th century. Its centre is mostly late 19th and early 20th century stone and red brick: short rows of through-terraces, Edwardian villas and the shops along Commercial Street near Holy Trinity Church. Inter-war semis followed, then large council estates north of the centre in the 1950s and, from the 1970s, private estates on the outskirts. Coal shaped the town until its last colliery closed in 1983, and that site is now Rothwell Country Park.
That spread of ages means very different electrics from one street to the next. A century-old terrace may carry wiring from several eras joined together, and a full house rewire is sometimes simpler than repairing it piece by piece. In 1930s and 1950s houses the consumer unit is often the first thing to date, and a consumer unit upgrade brings it up to current standards. If you are buying anywhere in LS26, an EICR tells you which camp your house falls into.

Top bloke, put me at ease straight away. Can't thank Martin enough, came out and did the job within the day. Moved and replaced the fuse board. Very neat and tidy job. Checked some other sockets and replaced while on the job at no extra price.

Completed the EICR and remedial work to a great standard, leaving the property safe and tidy. Would happily use again and recommend.

Questions from Rothwell
What people in Rothwell ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.
Do you cover all of Rothwell, not just the town centre?
Yes. We cover LS26 across Rothwell, from the older streets around Commercial Street and Holy Trinity Church to the estates towards Springhead Park and the outskirts. If you are unsure whether your road is included, get in touch.
Can you rewire an older Rothwell terrace while we still live in it?
Yes, in most cases. New cables go in before replastering and the work is phased, so you can usually stay living in the house while we work. Our full house rewires page sets out each stage.
