Using this website
This website is provided for information about our services and to let you request an estimate or book work. You may not use it in any way that causes damage to the site, or in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful.
Estimates and pricing
We give you a written estimate before work begins. An estimate is our best assessment of the work described in it. It is not a binding fixed price, and the final price may change if issues come to light, for example an unexpected fault found once a wall is opened up. If that happens, we will explain what we have found and what it means for the price, and agree any additional cost with you before continuing. An estimate is valid for a reasonable period from the date given, after which prices may need to be reconfirmed if the cost of materials has changed.
When we attend a fault, we charge for the first hour to attend. That hour includes up to an hour to resolve the fault. We explain what we find and what any further work will cost before you decide.
Your right to cancel
If you are a consumer and you agree a contract with us at your home, or at a distance (by phone, email or online), you have the right to cancel it within 14 days without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The 14 days start on the day the contract is agreed. To cancel, tell us clearly by email at info@martindayelectrician.co.uk or by phone on 0113 347 3743.
If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to the point you tell us you are cancelling.
Rearranging a booking
We ask for reasonable notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a booked appointment. Repeated late cancellation may affect our ability to offer priority scheduling on future bookings.
Payment
Payment is as set out in your written estimate.
Guarantees
Any guarantee on the work is as set out in your written estimate. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Our qualifications and insurance
We are an NICEIC Approved Contractor and Part P registered. Martin is JIB Approved and on the Register of Electricians (ECS Registered Electrician). We carry £5,000,000 public liability insurance on every job we carry out. Our NICEIC registration lets us self-certify notifiable domestic electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations.
Liability
We carry out all work with reasonable skill and care, in line with the relevant British Standards (BS 7671) and Building Regulations. Our liability for any claim arising from our work is limited to the value of our public liability insurance cover, except where the law does not allow such a limit (for example, in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence).
Complaints
If anything about our work falls short, contact us directly at info@martindayelectrician.co.uk or on 0113 347 3743 and we will put it right. Most issues are resolved by a follow-up visit at no extra cost.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
