What we’re asked for most in Farsley
The jobs that come up again and again in Farsley, each with a written estimate before work starts.
- Full house rewiresFarsley's terraces are built of thick local sandstone, so cable routes need planning. We use floor voids and existing runs where we can to keep chasing to a minimum.
- EICR testingA written report on a 19th-century terrace or weaving cottage, useful before you buy, let or start renovating one of the older houses near Town Street.
- Consumer unit upgradesAn old fuse box in a stone terrace is one of the most common items an EICR flags. A new RCD-protected unit is usually fitted in a day.
- EV charger installationFor the detached houses on the edges of the village with a drive or garage, a wall-mounted charger on its own circuit is a practical upgrade.

Electrical work in Farsley
Farsley grew from a hand-loom weaving village into a mill settlement in the 19th century, and it now runs into Bagley and Stanningley on the south side of the Aire Valley. Most of its older buildings are local sandstone, known as Stanningley Rock. Terrace rows fill much of the conservation area around Town Street, several of the three-storey weavers’ cottages still stand and Sunny Bank Mills, built in 1832, now hosts filming for The Great British Sewing Bee. West of Town Street is a small council estate of mostly flats, and there are detached houses on the edges of the village.
Thick stone walls change how electrical work is done here. A rewire takes more planning than in a modern brick house, because new cables have to follow floor voids and existing routes rather than being cut freely into the stone. If you are not sure what state a terrace is in, an EICR will tell you, and an older fuse box can be swapped for an RCD-protected consumer unit without disturbing the rest of the house.

Questions from Farsley
What people in Farsley ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.
Do you cover Bagley and the streets around Sunny Bank Mills?
Yes. Farsley, including Bagley, Town Street and the roads near Sunny Bank Mills, is all LS28 and within our regular Leeds coverage. If you are on the edge towards Calverley or Stanningley, get in touch with your address and we will confirm.
Does the Farsley conservation area affect electrical work?
Internal wiring in an unlisted house is not normally affected. Fittings on the outside, such as lights or a charge point on a street-facing wall, can be, and listed buildings have extra rules. If in doubt, check with Leeds City Council planning before work starts.
