Electrical work in Farnley
Including Old Farnley, LS12.
Farnley’s story starts with Farnley Hall, built in 1586 by Sir Thomas Danby. Old Farnley grew up around Cross Lane, serving the hall on Hall Lane and the nearby manor house. Leeds City Council bought the hall in 1945 and its grounds are now Farnley Hall Park, the main base for the city’s parks service. Around the old centre, the area filled out with semi-detached houses in the 1930s and 40s, many of them now owner-occupied, and in the 1950s the council built new housing on land in the old village itself.
Both kinds of house are now 60 to 90 years old. Where a semi still has an early board, a consumer unit upgrade adds RCD protection in a day. Where the wiring itself is original, a full rewire is the lasting fix, and it is the best moment to add sockets to rooms that never had enough. A house with a drive can take a home EV charger on a dedicated circuit.
