Electrical work in Rodley
The Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs right alongside Town Street in Rodley, five miles north-west of the city centre, with Horsforth to the north, Calverley to the west, Bramley to the east and Farsley to the south. The village was once known for crane building, with its cranes known as “Rodley type”. Many of the canal-side mills have since been replaced by apartments and houses, including the 1980s and 90s homes at Airedale Wharf, while older gritstone buildings such as the Rodley Barge survive along Town Street. Rodley Nature Reserve, created in 1999 on a former sewage works, sits beside the River Aire.
The oldest terraces on Town Street and Wesley Street were built before 1900, and some of the homes along Town Street are privately let. For landlords that means an EICR at least every five years through our landlord electrical safety service. In the oldest houses a full rewire is often cleaner than repairing mixed-age wiring, while the newer canal-side homes may only need a consumer unit upgrade to put RCD protection on every circuit.
