Electrician in Killingbeck, Leeds

Killingbeck runs along York Road, mixing older estates on Lyme Chase and The Oval with newer homes built on the former Killingbeck Hospital site.

Electrical work in Killingbeck

Strung along York Road, Killingbeck is a small district of east Leeds with Gipton to the west, Seacroft to the north and Halton Moor to the south. Its homes fall in both the LS14 and LS15 postcode districts. The older housing is on Lyme Chase and The Oval estate, which run up to Foundry Road. Killingbeck Hospital closed in 1997 and its site, reached from Oak Tree Lane, is now housing, while on the south side of York Road part of the Seacroft Hospital grounds was sold in 2014 and earmarked for around 700 new homes. Killingbeck Fields, a Local Nature Reserve, and the retail park with its Asda are the local landmarks.

Newer houses call for a different kind of electrical work. The wiring is modern, so the jobs are about adding to it: an EV charger on the drive, extra circuits for a home office or outside lighting. Building regulations have required charge points on new homes with parking only since June 2022, so a house finished before that usually needs one fitting from scratch, with a check that the supply can take the extra load. On the older Lyme Chase and Oval houses, an EICR is the place to start. Whatever the age of the house, security lighting for a drive or garden needs RCD protection like any other lighting circuit in a home.

Completed the EICR and remedial work to a great standard, leaving the property safe and tidy. Would happily use again and recommend.

Martin was excellent. Carried out my EICR for my retail shop in a very professional manner. Really nice bloke to deal with. Many thanks.

Questions from Killingbeck

What people in Killingbeck ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.

Do you cover the new homes on the old Seacroft Hospital site?

Yes. The housing on part of the Seacroft Hospital grounds off York Road, between Killingbeck and Seacroft, is within our area, as are the homes off Oak Tree Lane on the former Killingbeck Hospital site. Get in touch to arrange a visit.

My Killingbeck home is fairly new. Does it need an electrical inspection?

Guidance for owner-occupied homes suggests a periodic inspection at least every ten years, and when a house is bought or sold. A newer installation is likely to need little work, and the report is a useful record when you sell. Rented homes need one every five years.
