Electrician in Colton, Leeds

Colton pairs an old village core, now a conservation area, with streets of cul-de-sacs linked by ginnels, just north of Temple Newsam.

Electrical work in Colton

Colton is the corner of LS15 where the Leeds Outer Ring Road comes to an end, four miles from the city centre, with Halton to the west and the parkland of Temple Newsam directly to the south. The name appears in the Domesday Book, and the Methodist church stands in the old part of the village, much of which Leeds City Council has designated a conservation area. Most of today’s Colton is newer: cul-de-sacs joined by ginnels and back alleys, with detached, semi-detached and terraced houses and some flats, built over much of the old open space. Colton Retail Park on Stile Hill Way serves the area.

That layout shapes the jobs. Paths between cul-de-sacs run past side gates and back gardens, so security lighting fixed to the house is a practical addition. Houses with a drive are well placed for an EV charger, with the motorway close by for longer trips. In any house where the fuse board predates RCD protection, a consumer unit upgrade is the first thing we would look at, whatever else is planned.

Completed the EICR and remedial work to a great standard, leaving the property safe and tidy. Would happily use again and recommend.

Questions from Colton

What people in Colton ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.

Do you cover the old part of Colton as well as the newer streets?

Yes. We cover all of Colton, from the old village around the Methodist church to the cul-de-sacs off Meynell Road and the Whitkirk Lane End estate by Selby Road. Work on older buildings in the conservation area can need a lighter touch, so mention it when you get in touch.

Can you light the ginnels and paths at the side of my Colton house?

We can light everything on your property, such as side paths, back gates and garden walls, using PIR or dusk-to-dawn fittings on a protected circuit. Shared paths beyond your boundary need the landowner's agreement first. See our security lighting page for the options.
