What we’re asked for most in Weetwood
The jobs that come up again and again in Weetwood, each with a written estimate before work starts.
- EICR testingSeveral of Weetwood's big Victorian houses became university halls or flats, and an EICR shows what a century of changes has left in the wiring.
- Attic and extension wiringExtending or converting the loft of an interwar or post-war house near the Hollins means new circuits, planned in before the plasterers arrive.
- Security lightingWeetwood's broad, tree-lined lanes can be very dark after sunset, so PIR lighting on drives and side paths is a sensible addition.
- Home office wiringA spare bedroom or garden room in a larger Weetwood house can become a proper office with extra sockets, data points and good lighting.

Electrical work in Weetwood
Weetwood lies between Headingley and Meanwood in north-west Leeds, bounded by the Outer Ring Road to the north, Otley Road to the west, Meanwood Beck to the east and Hollin Lane to the south. By 1900 much of the old Weetwood estate along what is now Weetwood Lane had been sold off for large mansion houses, several of which became university halls of residence after the First World War. Weetwood Hall, a manor house dating from 1625, is now a hotel and conference centre. The slopes of the Hollins and lower Weetwood Lane filled with interwar and post-war housing, and The Hollies has been a public park since the 1920s.
Big Victorian houses that have been halls, flats and family homes in turn can hide several generations of wiring, so an EICR is the place to start before buying or renovating one. On the interwar and post-war streets, a loft conversion or extension needs its new circuits designed in from the start, which is what our attic and extension wiring service covers. The lanes are broad and heavily treed, which makes security lighting on drives and side paths a practical way to see your way home in winter.

Do you cover LS16 around Weetwood Lane and Weetwood Hall?
Yes. Our regular round includes the houses near Weetwood Hall on Otley Road and the streets running down towards Meanwood Beck and The Hollies. For an address on the Headingley side, get in touch and we will confirm.
Does electrical work in the Weetwood conservation area need special care?
A conservation area mainly controls changes to the outside of buildings, so indoor wiring is rarely affected. Listed buildings are different, as internal work that affects their character can need consent. If your house is listed, check with Leeds City Council first and we will plan cable routes around it.
