Electrical work in Holt Park

Including Tinshill and Ireland Wood, LS16.

Six miles out from Leeds city centre, Holt Park fills the space between Tinshill, Cookridge and Adel. It was built in the 1970s as a medium-sized, low-rise estate, one half council and the other half private, with detached and semi-detached houses, two-storey terraces, bungalows and flats. The district centre, anchored by an Asda since the early 1970s, sits beside Ralph Thoresby School and the Holt Park Active wellbeing centre. Tinshill, planned in the 1940s as the Cookridge Tower Estate, is overlooked by the BT tower on one of the highest points in Leeds. Ireland Wood was built from the late 1940s as an estate of concrete prefabricated houses, mostly two and three-bedroom semis, and many have since been bought by their occupiers.

Those dates shape the work. A 1970s house still on its original consumer unit has no RCD protection, and wiring on the 1940s and 1950s estates is old enough that a full rewire is worth pricing if it has never been replaced. If you have bought a former council home and do not know its history, an EICR gives you a written picture of the whole installation before you decorate or build.

Martin was excellent. Carried out my EICR for my retail shop in a very professional manner. Really nice bloke to deal with. Many thanks.

Questions from Holt Park

What people in Holt Park ask us most. Not covered here? Ring and ask.

Do you cover Holt Park, Tinshill and Ireland Wood in LS16?

Yes, all three. That means the streets around the Holt Park district centre, the Tinshill estate near the BT tower and the Ireland Wood estate. Not sure your road counts? Send us your postcode and we will tell you.

Can you rewire a concrete prefabricated house in Ireland Wood?

Yes. Concrete walls limit where cables can be chased in, so we ask for photographs of the walls and plan the route through ceiling voids, floors and neat surface trunking where chasing is not practical. See our full house rewire page for how the job runs.
