Electrical work in Menston
Menston is a village of about 4,500 people on the A65 between Guiseley and Burley-in-Wharfedale, roughly ten miles north-west of Leeds city centre. Most of the parish lies in the Wharfedale ward of Bradford, with a small southern section inside the Leeds boundary, and the whole village shares the LS29 postcode. Menston station, on the Wharfedale Line, has trains to Leeds, Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley, and the parish church of St John the Divine stands in the village.
The biggest change to Menston’s housing in recent decades has been at High Royds, the former West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum. It opened in 1888 as a large Gothic complex of stone buildings, closed as a hospital in 2003 and has since been turned into homes, with work on the Grade II listed administration building and its clock tower starting in 2019. Across the village, an older house may still have a fuse board without RCD protection, which a consumer unit upgrade puts right. If you are buying or selling, an EICR gives you a clear picture of the wiring, and for homes with a drive we fit home EV chargers on their own circuit.
