We are the "data controller" for the personal information collected through this website, and we are responsible for looking after it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What information we collect
We keep the information we collect to a minimum. We collect personal information in only two ways:
1. When you fill in a form on our website
If you use our contact or quote request form to ask us to call you back or provide a quote, we collect:
- Your name
- Your phone number
- Your email address
- The details of your enquiry (your message)
You provide this information voluntarily so that we can respond to you. We do not use it for anything else.
2. Website analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website — for example, which pages are most popular and how people find us. This helps us improve the site.
Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, the type of device and browser you use, and your approximate location (based on a truncated IP address). This information is aggregated and does not directly identify you.
Analytics cookies are only set with your consent, which you give or refuse through the cookie banner when you first visit the site (see "Cookies" below).
We do not collect any other customer data through this website. We do not sell anything online, we do not take payments through the site, and we do not send marketing emails or newsletters.
How we use your information and our lawful basis
| What we do | Information used | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to your enquiry, call you back or prepare a quote | Name, phone number, email, message | Legitimate interests (responding to an enquiry you have made), and taking steps at your request before entering into a contract |
| Carry out and administer any work you book with us | Name, contact details, job details | Performance of a contract |
| Understand how our website is used and improve it | Analytics data | Your consent |
We will never sell your personal information, and we will not use it to send you marketing you have not asked for.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. This website uses the Complianz consent tool to manage cookies. When you first visit the site, a banner asks whether you accept cookies that are not strictly necessary — including Google Analytics cookies. If you decline, those cookies are not set.
You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings link on this website, or by clearing cookies in your browser settings.
For a full list of the cookies used on this site, please see our Cookie Policy.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run this website:
- Google (Google Analytics) — processes analytics data on our behalf, as described above. Google may process this data on servers outside the UK; such transfers are covered by safeguards recognised under UK data protection law. You can learn more at Google's privacy policy and opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Our website hosting and email providers — form submissions are delivered to us by email, so our hosting and email providers process that data in order to deliver it.
We may also disclose personal information if we are required to do so by law.
How long we keep your information
- Enquiry form submissions: we keep enquiries for as long as needed to deal with them. If your enquiry leads to work being carried out, we keep the related records for up to 6 years after the work is completed, in line with our legal and accounting obligations and the limitation period for contractual claims. If your enquiry does not lead to any work, we delete it within 12 months.
- Analytics data: retained in Google Analytics for the standard retention period set in our account, after which it is automatically deleted or aggregated.
How we keep your information secure
This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), so information you submit through our forms is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry information is limited to the people who need it to respond to you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Erasure — ask us to delete your information
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your information
- Objection — object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests
- Data portability — receive the information you provided to us in a portable format
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent (e.g. analytics cookies), you can withdraw it at any time
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details at the top of this policy. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first and we will do our best to resolve the issue. You also have the right to complain to the UK's supervisory authority:
